Punishment Park - Peter Watkins (1971)
In this fictional documentary, U.S. prisons are at capacity, and President Nixon declares a state of emergency. All new prisoners, most of whom are connected to the antiwar movement, are now given the choice of jail time or spending three days in Punishment Park, where they will be hunted for sport by federal authorities. The prisoners invariably choose the latter option, but learn that, between the desert heat and the brutal police officers, their chances of survival are slim. Although the film itself is fictional, many of the elements found within are metaphors of social and political events of the time, such as the trial of the Chicago Seven, the Kent State shootings, police brutality, and political polarisation.

"Riot on Sunset Strip" is a 1967 counterculture-era movie, filmed and released within four months of the real events late-1966 Sunset Strip curfew These real events, also known as the "hippie riots", were a series of clashes that took place between police and young people on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, California in 1966. In the film a crowd of undisciplined young people freaks gather on the Sunset Strip- Los Angeles. A police lieutenant who is sympathetic to the kids but is pressured by businessmen to clear them out has his work cut out. The cop also thinks the kids have a right to be there, until his estranged daughter joins the counter-culture crowd.

Διδαχτήκαμε την αλφάβητο της μιζέριας, τη γραμματική της υποταγής. Από πολύ μικροί, μάθαμε να βλέπουμε τον κόσμο με φόβο, να ζούμε υποταγμένοι, να υπακούμε στις εντολές, να μολύνουμε τις ελπίδες και την ψυχή μας, να γινόμαστε ανταγωνιστικοί και απάνθρωποι. Δεχτήκαμε αδιαμαρτύρητα ότι ο χρόνος μας είναι κάτι που μπορεί να πουληθεί και να αγοραστεί. Ότι το ίδιο ισχύει για τη δημιουργία μας, για τη σκέψη μας, για το ίδιο μας το σώμα. Πιστέψαμε κάθε λέξη από τα γαμημένα ψέματά τους και σκύψαμε παθητικά το κεφάλι, παραδίνοντας τις ζωές μας στο φάντασμα της δουλειάς. Κι αυτό σιγά σιγά κατάπιε κάθε συστατικό της ζωής & των ονείρων μας, μέχρι που δεν έμεινε τίποτα για εμάς τους ίδιους. Η μηχανή που σκοτώνει τον πλανήτη κινείται με καύσιμο το δικό μας αίμα, τα τείχη που μας κρατούν φυλακισμένους είναι χτισμένα με τα δικά μας κορμιά, οι εφιάλτες που υποβιβάζουν τη ζωή μας σε επιβίωση είναι κατασκευασμένοι από τα δικά μας όνειρα. Αν αυτό είναι η πραγματικότητα, τότε ας χαθούμε στην φαντασία. Αν αυτό είναι το σωστό, τότε ας κάνουμε το λάθος. Να σκεφτούμε, να μιλήσουμε και να πράξουμε ενάντια στον τρόπο σκέψης και τις πράξεις των κυρίαρχων αυτού του κόσμου. ΝΑ ΚΑΤΑΣΤΡΕΨΟΥΜΕ ΤΟ ΣΥΣΤΗΜΑ ΠΡΙΝ ΚΑΤΑΣΤΡΕΨΕΙ ΤΟΝ ΠΛΑΝΗΤΗ! Να φωτίσουμε το μέλλον μας με τις φωτιές της κόλασής τους, να αγαπήσουμε την ΖΩΗ, να μοιραστούμε την ΕΛΕΥΘΕΡΙΑ.
