Discussion on Serbia, Macedonia, Greece
Update on the discussion on Serbia, Macedonia, Greece and new call
Last Saturday we gathered in Navarinou Park in Exarcheia to discuss on the situation in Serbia, Macedonia and try to compare and rethink the movement about Tempi in Greece. We received info from a Serbian comrade about the situation in the region, along with the latest news from the movement in Macedonia, followed by discussion.
Our discussion was involved around the differences between the Greek and Serbian student blockades, based on the different ways state pressure and politics work in the universities. We were informed though that student assemblies in Serbia have turned into a "sacred political body" same as the families of the tempi victims in Greece. Common factor in the 3 movements is the fight against corruption as well as justice, although Serbia seems to take it one step further, with the students there realizing that in order to fight corruption, people should be the ones to do the decision-making. About Tempi we discussed the need of pushing for some radical demands, other than the limited -asking for justice-, and a step further than the nationalisation of the railway. Our first proposals for acting include doing some networking and translation work to bring the info in the Greek movement, organizing events with people involved in the planums in Serbia. Also there is a need to get info about the needs of the families of the victims in Kocani, after a call for support from Macedonian comrades.
NEXT DISCUSSION: Navarinou Park, Sunday 6/4, 3pm
