Words and practices from rural conflicts in the struggle against the project of nuclear waste burial
In the departments of Meuse and Haute-Marne (France), the state and the nuclear industrie are trying, over 20 years now, to dig a rubbish for nuclear wastes (the project CIGEO) through police and military acts of intimidation, buying awareness and colonization of terrritories.
For several months, the opponents to the project CIGEO are fighting against the national agency of radioactive waste management (ANDRA) through law procedures and by occupying the 'Bois Lejuc', close to Bure, since the summer 2016 to block the beginning of the construction works. At the same time, the repression is getting stronger: permanent patrols of cops in the villages, violent arrestations of the 'Bois Lejuc' squatters, trials against the farmers involved in the struggle, ban of territories of militants and, the last 20 of september, 5 remarkable cops raids have targeted the private houses and the historical place of the struggle, the House of Resistance 'Bure Free Zone'.
